Airbnb, the popular accommodation-booking company, may start taking cryptocurrency payments this year. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky shared a list of customer requests on Twitter, with permitting crypto payments ranking first.

Chesky stated in his article that his organisation is already working on most of the client suggestions, while vowing to investigate others. Recently, a number of consumer businesses have begun accepting cryptocurrency payments for some goods and services. The majority of these pro-crypto brands are headquartered in the United States.

Chesky stated in his Twitter thread that if Airbnb does begin to take crypto payments, the firm will be open to a number of token concepts.

Chesky’s tweet received hundreds of retweets and thousands of likes. People who left comments on the page suggested that Airbnb start taking Bitcoin, Shiba Inu, and Ethereum.

This is not the first time Chesky has acknowledged that Airbnb users are yearning for a crypto payment option.

Airbnb To Join Crypto Legacy Soon

Airbnb allows Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB as payment options in the majority of countries. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Paypal are also accepted. Currently, Airbnb does not accept cryptocurrencies as a payment method.

If the popular request is followed, Airbnb will join the ranks of Tesla and AMC, among others, in accepting cryptocurrency as payment.

On the other side, the vast majority of companies throughout the world are wary about accepting crypto payments.

Several countries across the world are debating how to regulate the crypto industry, worried that crypto assets may be used to facilitate illegal activity.

As of now, only El Salvador in Central America has accepted Bitcoin as legal cash.
