AMC Theatres, a movie theatre company based in the United States, has begun accepting payments in Dogecoin, a popular meme-based cryptocurrency.

BitPay, a Bitcoin payment service provider based in Georgia, will facilitate the transaction. AMC gift cards will be available for purchase, with a maximum restriction of $200. (roughly Rs. 14,970).

This development may indirectly promote Dogecoin into other businesses because these gift cards will be valid at other stores as well.

Because cryptocurrency is more affordable, more people can buy and utilise gift cards.

After repeatedly tweeting Aron to beg him to start taking Dogecoin payments, the post has piqued the interest of Dogecoin lovers.

AMC allows users to buy movie tickets with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin, as well as receive discounts.

Contessoto Glauber better known as Dogecoin Millionaire also made his statement on the mass adoption of dogecoin and psoted a tweet regarding it.

Aron had asked his 186,000 Twitter followers to help him make a decision about Dogecoin payments in a poll he had uploaded earlier in September.

Not only did the majority of voters (68 percent) support Dogecoin at the time, but the post also drew Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s attention.

Musk responded to a Twitter message by saying that Dogecoin handling fees should be reduced to make ordinary purchases “viable” for the average shopper.

In some nations, crypto-payments have begun to gain traction. Cryptocurrency payments are now accepted by over 85,000 merchants in Switzerland, for example.

WeWork, a prominent office-sharing firm, said on April 21 that it would begin accepting payments in specific cryptocurrencies.
