Twitter, the hub of the Bitcoin community, has a new CEO, Elon Musk tweeted on Thursday.
Musk said his replacement will start in around six weeks but did not give her name. According to The Wall Street Journal, Linda Yaccarino, a former executive at NBC Universal, is in discussions to accept the position.
Musk, who acquired Twitter last year and announced he would hire a new CEO after a survey indicated this, will now serve as executive chairman and chief technology officer at the company, according to Musk.
Elon Musk did not disclose the identity of his replacement, but he did say that she will start in around six weeks. The Wall Street Journal reports that Linda Yaccarino, a former executive at NBC Universal, is in talks to take the job. Elon Musk, who last year purchased Twitter and declared he would bring in a new CEO after learning this via a poll, will now lead the organisation as executive chairman and chief technology officer, according to Musk.
Musk's choice will be of interest to enthusiasts of digital assets even if Twitter isn't a crypto firm in and of itself because a lot of the industry's public reveals and conversations happen through tweet, also known as Crypto Twitter.
There are also suggestions that Twitter may become more involved with cryptocurrencies. Twitter briefly used the dogecoin (DOGE), a humour coin Musk promotes, as its logo in April. Also early this year, the Financial Times revealed that Twitter was developing a payments system that might ultimately support cryptocurrency.
