Sebastien Borget, co-founder, and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, a prominent metaverse platform, spoke to Cointelegraph at the Asian Blockchain Gaming Alliance’s Web3 Summit in Singapore.

He shed light on the diverging trends of the metaverse industry in Asia and the West.

While some may perceive the metaverse as waning in the West, Borget emphatically stated that it's quite the opposite in Asia.

He revealed that over the past year, approximately 50% of Sandbox's business has originated from various Asian countries, making it clear that Asia is emerging as a metaverse hotspot.

Borget highlighted Hong Kong and Korea as the leading markets, with Japan closely following suit.

Lion City: A Showcase of Singapore

Borget shared exciting news about the upcoming launch of Lion City at the Token 2049 event in Singapore.

Lion City is a new addition to the Sandbox metaverse, featuring 512 virtual land plots.

It is a unique initiative aimed at showcasing Singapore's rich culture through collaborations with several global brands.

Borget expressed how The Sandbox has witnessed remarkable growth in its ecosystem.

The platform now boasts over 400 brands, 700 partners worldwide, and 200 verified agencies actively contributing to its development.

Dynamic NFTs Thriving Despite Challenges

Despite a slowdown in metaverse usage in the West, Borget remains optimistic about the industry's future. He highlighted two significant developments:

Dynamic NFTs represent a major innovation in the metaverse space.

They allow creators to modify metadata, changing the appearance and attributes of NFT assets.

Borget emphasized the importance of making each NFT truly unique, similar to real-world items that can have different histories or usage.

Apple's Augmented Reality Vision Pro Headset

Apple's recent launch of the Augmented Reality Vision Pro headset is seen as a game-changer for the metaverse.

It enables digital assets to seamlessly blend into physical environments, blurring the lines between the virtual and real world.

This innovation enhances user interaction with digital assets, making them more immersive.

Borget concluded by emphasizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to fostering Web3 adoption in the metaverse sector.

While some traditional gaming companies focus on providing high-quality games with blockchain features, metaverse platforms like The Sandbox offer entirely new and unique experiences for users, expanding the boundaries of what the metaverse can be.
