The Big Short and Moneyball best-selling author Michael Lewis has claimed that he is nearly completed writing a book about Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) and the demise of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon is the title of the upcoming book. Lewis first learned about Bankman-Fried in late 2021 when a friend urged him to meet the FTX founder and get a read on him.

Author Michael Lewis is almost ready to publish a book on SBF

Best-selling author Michael Lewis of The Big Short and Moneyball has stated that he is almost finished writing a book on Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) and the closure of the FTX bitcoin exchange.

The next book is titled Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. When a buddy persuaded Lewis to meet the founder of FTX and get a feel on him in late 2021, Lewis first learned about Bankman-Fried.

Lewis didn't give a particular publication date when he spoke at the 2023 Bitcoin Conference in Miami on May 19, but he did say that he wanted the book to be released around the time the criminal trial against SBF starts in October.

However, a simple check on Amazon reveals that the book's anticipated publication date is October 3.

Before FTX's dramatic collapse in November 2022 and the accompanying criminal accusations against SBF, Lewis was allegedly close to writing the book, bringing a completely new dimension to the tale of the formerly wealthy crypto tycoon.

The FTX and SBF stories

At the Bitcoin conference, Lewis recounted the writing process and said that the FTX saga ended up saving the book.

"I thought, 'I don't have a book," he recalled, adding:

"I had this discussion with a type of guy I used as a sounding board, and he said, 'Your problem is you don't have a third act. The first two acts are present, however the third act is absent. And I said, "That's 100% correct." I'm not sure how to wrap it up. After a week, FTX implodes. I was really appreciative.

Naturally, the author didn't want to give away too much information about the book, but he did mention that he was able to see FTX's collapse in person.

"It aspires to read like a piece of fiction," he said, adding, "If you didn't know anything about crypto. if you weren't even aware of Sam Bankman-Fried's existence. You could believe that this is a made-up tale, he warned.

Notably, Lewis further revealed at Bitcoin Miami that he has a small quantity of Bitcoin that was completely frozen after the FTX bankruptcy.

Lewis' next book on SBF is sure to contain some insightful information given that he was able to give an engrossing and in-depth account of the significant figures and events surrounding the 2008 housing bubble catastrophe in The Big Short.

Lewis claimed that he had spoken with everyone from SBF's inner circle and staff to government leaders in both the Bahamas and the United States during his participation at the conference.

Additionally, he has had access to SBF for the past two years, with the FTX founder continuing to speak with Lewis while under house arrest in Paolo Alto.
