Stephen Curry, the NBA's all-time greatest three-point shooter, recently made an investment "in the growth of social technology" by filing the trademark "CURRYVERSE" with the US Patent and Trademark Office on October 26.

Curry's "personal and virtual and metaversal appearances" as well as "online gaming services in the nature of virtual worlds" are both covered under the whole trademark application.

The NBA star carries a picture of a handwritten page of notes defining the future of the Curryverse hidden inside his red iPhone. While holed up at the Toronto family compound in 2020, he laid out his plans.

Stephan Curry has been an ambassador for cryptocurrency exchange FTX since September 2021, but this filing marks his first documented claim to a crypto-related trademark.

Curry is also not new to the NFT scene; in August 2021, he bought a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. Other digital relics, like a membership pass to Web3 golf company LinksDAO, are also part of the NBA star's collection.

He also intends to obtain trademark approval for a variety of uses, including social media posting, reading basketball statistics, seeing images and videos of basketball games, and more. Additionally, the application features personal, virtual, and metaverse appearances from well-known celebrities and athletes.

In December 2021, he collaborated with Under Armour on his first official NFT release, which generated sales of more than 2200 ETH, or almost $3.5 million, according to OpenSea.

In line with the broader "tokenized fandom" genre, Curry's NBA team, the Golden State Warriors, has also adopted Web3 connections through a number of collaborations to sell NFT memorabilia.
