The co-founder and creator of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, and the founder of the Isha Foundation, the Indian spiritual Sadhguru, had a virtual conversation about the relationship between technology and human consciousness on the reState Foundation's platform.
Blockchain and other emerging technologies are bringing about a new age of interactions between people and the digital world. For thought leaders both inside and outside the business who are attempting to foresee how such technologies may inspire a shift in the human experience, this is a growing topic of discourse.
As you are aware, emerging technologies like DeFi, blockchain, and others are ushering in a new era of connections between humans and the digital world. This is a rising area of discussion for thought leaders both inside and outside the company who are striving to predict how such technology may inspire a change in the human experience.
On April 25, the reState Foundation organised a virtual conversation between Sadhguru, an Indian spiritual who founded the Isha Foundation, and Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder and developer of Ethereum, to talk about the relationship between technology and human consciousness.
Buterin began the discussion by emphasising that "human coordination and interaction" with one another is at the heart of blockchain technology. He stated:
"Blockchain is about assisting various groups of people in coming together to be able to trust each other more and to collaborate over greater distances on many different kinds of projects."
The discussion immediately moved on to highlight the widening divide between the rate of technology advancement and the growth of human ethics and consciousness, with the latter being left behind.
The Sadhguru argues that humans' yearning to belong to a group is a major source of this impediment. The yogi claimed that because of this urge for self-identification, wisdom over "protecting and defending the identity" of that group is forfeited.
Buterin emphasised that modern, emergent technology actually makes it simpler for individuals to recognise complex identities and establish personal connections. In the end, he asserted, "every technology is a social technology in some way."
"These are instruments that aid in group organisation. People can use tools to find shared values by identifying them."
While new technology won't be able to fix every user problem, he went on to explain that agreements and conflicts in space might lead to "realised cooperation" and educational possibilities. "I think those are the kinds of ideas that I know a lot of people in Ethereum and in those related communities really care about," he added.
Sadhguru urged audiences to remember that people are the "highest level of technology" and that by doing so, we may enhance the way we engage with technologies as they continue to dominate user lives and global systems.
"Technology is an extension of human awareness, not just something we people passively make. Our technology will advance naturally as our consciousness does."
The key to blockchain's deployment as a tool for deeper knowledge and expanding human awareness, according to both speakers, is its right use.
