BitMex has announced its relationship with AC Milan as its first-ever sleeve partner and first official cryptocurrency trading partner, which is designed to bring BitMex closer to the club’s fans.

On the one hand, we are witnessing rising regulatory issues for Binance, and on the other hand, we are seeing exchanges like FTX and BitMex vying with each other to sponsor sports and gaming teams, believing that when given an option, the supporters of these professional clubs will choose crypto trading.

Almost all crypto-related businesses appear to be aimed at sports fans, which appears to be a clever marketing technique.

Football Club AC Milan also posted the announcement on its twitter feed.

“Our partnership with AC Milan is the start of a hugely exciting new chapter for BitMEX as we look to ramp up brand awareness and increase understanding of crypto. AC Milan is one of the world’s most progressive football clubs, and combined with its rich footballing heritage boasts extraordinary reach and engagement with fans globally. We felt we’d come home when we started talking to the Club, and we can’t wait to start interacting with the global Rossoneri family.” – Alexander Höptner, CEO of BitMEX,

In fact, BitMex appears to be using this as a branding exercise in order to expand beyond the borders of the United States.

The exchange is also facing stiff competition from other new exchanges that have emerged in the last couple of years.

Therefore, BitMex needed to remain relevant, and one of the key reasons for its expansion was to find other markets to sustain the revenue flow, which was one of its main reasons for expanding.

Well, both crypto and soccer enthusiast came together to show their happiness on the sponsorship news.

A user wrote that “Not a BitMEX fan and for sure not an AC Milan fan, but this is cool for crypto!”

The collaboration will be off on August 23 in a match between AC Milan and Sampdoria, and it will be interesting to see how the brand-building exercise of BitMex, whose founder has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent months, plays out in the future.
