Cryptocurrency Are Accepted As Donations For Afghanistan Refugees

As the Taliban took over Afghanistan and vanquished the US-backed government, a massive amount of the Afghanistan population is fleeing away or being evacuated from the country. The refugees in a foreign land have little or negligible resources, to help them many non-profitable organizations are seeking donations. People around the world are also donating cryptocurrencies and digital tokens to provide some financial aid to Afghanistan.

Helping Afghanistan Refugees with Cryptocurrency and NFTs As Donation

Since the US withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban seized power. The government fell, the central authority fled away leaving the people of the country at the mercy of the Taliban.

According to reports from the BBC news, “The surge in numbers trying to leave comes on top of the 2.2 million refugees already in neighboring countries and 3.5 million people left homeless within Afghanistan’s borders as a result of ongoing conflict and political instability.”

Millions of families including women, children, senior citizens have lost their homes at the mercy of the Taliban seizing power in Afghanistan. These people have been evacuated and have become refugees with little or no resources of their own. Donations are accepted even in cryptocurrency and NFTs.

As Afghan refugees are let to enter different foreign soils, they don’t have a legitimate shelter, not many clothes on their backs, or other necessary resources. In such circumstances non-governmental; non-profitable organizations are coming forth and asking the world for donations to help these needy people to provide a minimal humanly livelihood. Warm hearts have joined hands in harmony to help the Afghan refugees, many are donating funds – including cryptocurrency and other digital assets.

A New York-based non-profitable organization, Hearts & Homes for Refugees, has put a word out seeking funds to help approximately 20,000 Afghans. They are still waiting in camps to get approval to get special migrants visas from the United States. They hope to raise funds to relocate Afghan families to Westchester County.

As per data from Cointelegraph, the cryptocurrency and digital assets that are accepted as donations are “Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), ZCash (ZEC), Gemini dollar (GUSD), BAL, Yearn. Finance (YFI), Polygon (MATIC), Synthetix (SNX) and Bancor (BNT) through its integration with the Giving Block.”

Jack Butcher, the founder of Visualize Value, launched a series of the nonfungible token (NFT) “care packages” each of which is intended to be offered to coordinate with the association’s assessed cost covering a solitary family’s crisis needs for a month.

Butcher said, each NFT is 0.028 ETH and is worth 89.05 USD. Each purchase of NFT is a care package for one Afghan family. Reports declare that he has raised $124,576, as of August 19.

As soon as the NFT care package scheme was launched, Jack Butcher’s aim to bring together financial cryptocurrency investors to pool in a global cause was an immense success. People across the world praised this initiative, some even called this the “best” and most creative way of using NFTs for a good cause.

With such applauses around the globe, Jack Butcher updated the system and made 10 NFTs available for purchase. Cryptocurrency investors now have the alternative of buying 10 all at once for 0.28 ETH, or generally $914, to help 10 families through late September.

The returns from the NFT purchased are sent directly to CARE to offer help for the families.

CARE is a worldwide philanthropic association fighting worldwide destitution and starvation around the world. It worked with more than 100 nations and aided more than 90 million individuals through 1,300 ventures last year.

According to real-time media reports, the fund raised from NFT cryptocurrency purchases is around US$90,000, enough to help around 1,000 Afghan families for a month.
