DraftKings has recently announced its plan to launch a DraftKings marketplace. It is a new initiative from the company and a digital collectible ecosystem. It is carefully designed for common accessibility for everyone that offers NFT drops and also supports secondary market transactions. This will allow the customers to buy, sell and also trade their digital collectibles across entertainment, culture, and sports with their DraftKings account. Users will easily be able to access the new marketplace when it will be available with their existing sign-in credentials.
The DraftKings marketplace will be established as a part of the new strategic relationship with the NFT platform, Autograph. The marketplace will be the “exclusive distributor of NFT content”. The NFT platform takes advantage of the official licensing of prominent athletes and celebrities. It includes Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Naomi Osaka, Tony Hawk, and more to offer a wide range of digital collectibles. This partnership will allow the DraftKings marketplace to be the host of the first sports-related NFTs. Autograph will be releasing them soon.
The initial drop of this first sports-related NFTs will be titled “Pre-Season Access Collection”. This drop will showcase the NFTs of all the legendary athletes from Autograph’s roster of talent and partners. Furthermore, it will also give the fans a chance to secure their early access to any future releases. The date for that, however, has not yet been revealed. This fall season, they will release the general entertainment NFTs through Autograph and Lionsgate, a major studio partner.
The founder and the CEO of Autograph, Dillon Rosenblatt says, “As the world becomes more comfortable with digital ownership and collection, we see an incredible opportunity to bring users high-quality and personalized content from their favorite athletes, artists, and franchises. NFTs are the perfect medium to connect users to both the things they love and those who share those interests, and we want to leverage today’s incredible partnerships to provide continued value to our community.”
The next NFL season is likely to start in less than 60 days. If the “Pre-season” in this compilation refers to American football, then there are rumors around that DraftKings will be launching sports NFT within the next couple of months.
Is Sports Betting Meeting NFT?
DraftKings Co-Founder and President, Matt Kalish commented, “The NFT boom has reinvented the collectibles industry and driven excitement to early-adopting audiences worldwide—including the DraftKings community. DraftKings Marketplace will sit at the center of this technological and cultural phenomenon. This will provide our immense existing customer base with an easily accessible experience that rivals all legacy marketplaces. This initial vision in collaboration with Autograph, and its coveted collection of official digital collectibles, is a vital first step as we enter the emergent NFT market. We aim to usher in this new era by introducing millions of collectors to this evolving space while providing beloved content through an intuitive interface built to win over the long term.”
We still have to find out that how DraftKings will incorporate NFTs into its traditional business model. But, after listening to this week’s announcement, it suggests that we will be able to see it in the coming future. Also, DraftKings has teamed up with VaynerMedia as an in-house agency. Recently, VaynerMedia has established its VaynerNFT. Until then, DraftKings continues to be a hot topic.
