The first-ever exchange-traded fund of Bitcoin began trading on the New York Stock Exchange today, marking a watershed milestone in the cryptocurrency universe’s history.

With the symbol BITO, the Proshares Bitcoin-linked ETF began trading on stock platforms. On the New York Stock Exchange, the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF was up 3.2 percent to $41.2.

The Proshares ETF is far from the first Bitcoin-related ETF to trade in the world, as countries such as Canada have just introduced their own Bitcoin ETF.

The potential of an ETF listing has enthralled the cryptocurrency community, with Bitcoin trading 1.3 percent higher at $63,451, close to its all-time high.

Analysts who follow the cryptocurrency market have predicted that the launch of a Bitcoin ETF in the United States will propel Bitcoin further higher, surpassing its all-time high set in April 2021.

Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas shares the number of traded bitcoin ETF. It appears that $280M ETFs were traded in just 20 min.

Michael Saylor also posted a tweet and wrote, “Satoshi will be proud” pointing towards the anonymous creator of bitcoin.
