A job opening for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead has been announced by the company. “Own the vision and strategy for Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap,” the new recruit will work in the payments acceptance and experienced team.
This could indicate that cryptocurrency will be included in the site in the future. The announcement comes five months after rumors circulated that Amazon was building the framework for a modern electronic currency to be used in its marketplaces and platforms.
It was reported that Amazon was preparing to launch a “digital currency” project in Mexico, citing a job offer that detailed the company’s “new payment product.”
Amazon now has more than 70 opportunities for blockchain professionals, indicating that the company may be developing a blockchain supply business for Amazon Web Services clients.
Digital currencies have always piqued Amazon’s curiosity. In 2013, the business introduced “Amazon Coins,” a digital currency that users could use to make purchases in Kindle-based apps and games.
Amazon Coins are still available for purchase today and have a one-cent value.
The corporation purchased three bitcoin web addresses in 2017 but did not explain the reasons.
At the moment, Amazon does not accept bitcoin payments. People can swap Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and other cryptocurrencies for Amazon gift cards using popular programs.
