WhatsApp has announced a partnership with the Novi digital wallet, located in the United States, to enable bitcoin transactions on the platform. The messaging service, which is owned by Meta, has launched a test agreement with the finance platform, which is also controlled by Meta.
Users will be able to send and receive money directly from the chat app. Only a few users in the United States have access to WhatsApp’s new money transfer feature via Novi. Furthermore, WhatsApp is said to be working on a Communities feature, and a new report claims that the project is well along. It is claimed to provide extra control to the Community’s developer.
Novi’s integration with WhatsApp was revealed via a series of tweets from the company’s leading executives, David Marcus and Stephane Kasriel.
WhatsApp users will be able to send and receive money straight through the Meta-owned finance platform. The functionality will first be provided to a small number of customers in the United States as part of a trial program. “A limited number of individuals in the US will be able to transfer and receive money using Novi on WhatsApp starting today,” Kasriel said, “making sending money to relatives and friends as easy as sending a chat.”
“People use WA to arrange transferring money to loved ones, and now Novi will let them do so safely, promptly, and without costs,” said WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart in a tweet.
The Novi connection was discovered last month, and customers in the United States and Guatemala were told that the service will be available shortly. The new statement, on the other hand, makes no mention of the pilot program’s implementation in Guatemala.
Furthermore, WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo stated that while building a community, community creators would get the opportunity to link select groups. The service is rumored to be considering a future upgrade for WhatsApp beta that would allow users to build communities.
WABetaInfo discovered the Communities feature under development last month, and it is thought to be an augmentation of the Groups function. The Communities feature is claimed to be a new location in WhatsApp where Group managers may have more control over their groups.
